WHO: Breathe Life – How Air Pollution Affects the Environment
When a substance is released from a large area, for example from an industrial plant, or from a container such as a barrel or bottle, the substance enters the environment. This release does not always lead to exposure. You can be exposed to a substance only when you come into contact with it-by inhaling, eating or drinking the substance, or by skin contact.
There are many factors that determine whether exposure to heptachlor or heptachlor epoxide will harm you. These factors include the dose (the amount), the duration (how long) and the way you came into contact with these substances. You should also consider the other chemicals you are exposed to, your age, sex, diet, personal characteristics, lifestyle and health condition.
Heptachlor epoxide is also a white powder that does not ignite easily. It is not a manufactured substance and, unlike heptachlor, was not used as a pesticide. Bacteria and animals degrade heptachlor to heptachlor epoxide. This summary describes the two compounds simultaneously since approximately 20% of heptachlor is transformed to heptachlor epoxide in the environment and in the body within hours.

Con la continua elevación del nivel de vida, la climatización de los edificios se ha convertido en una necesidad; en muchos casos para conseguir que sus condiciones de habitabilidad cumplan con los requisitos de confort de sus ocupantes, lo que redunda en una mayor satisfacción de los mismos y, en otros casos, como equipamiento fundamental del edificio para cumplir la función intrínseca del mismo.
Las instalaciones de climatización son hoy en día una de las instalaciones más importantes de un edificio, por varias razones: En el aspecto de inversión por el alto valor económico de la misma, que puede constituir entre el 10 y el 20% del importe del edificio en instalaciones centralizadas en edificios nuevos. En el aspecto de aprovechamiento por el importe del consumo energético que probablemente constituye el más importante de los costes energéticos del edificio, mayor que el gasto energético en iluminación y otros consumos eléctricos del edificio. En el aspecto de mantenimiento y conservación por la dedicación que exigen, el coste de sus componentes y las necesidades de personal especializado en estas tareas. Por último, en el aspecto funcional, por la alta incidencia de la falta de este servicio en un momento dado en la actividad del edificio y sus usuarios. Para un correcto diseño, es necesario conocer todas las potencialidades de cada equipo existente en el mercado.
