The comedy that reimagines the life of the American poet Emily Dickinson from a contemporary point of view will end with this third season that delves into the era of the American Civil War, a time when the writer was at the height of her literary activity. In fiction, the war that shakes the country is reflected, to a lesser extent, in the confrontation that divides the Dickinson family, with Emily as mediator, while wondering about the role of art in a world in which it is increasingly difficult to maintain hope. Alena Smith signs this funny and intelligent story that maintains its excellent level.

Ana Rujas and Claudia Costafreda are the creators of the series starring Rujas, which follows the existential crisis of a young woman on the verge of her thirties. Living with the precariousness and lack of prospects characteristic of her generation, María burns the night with drugs and sex without thinking about the consequences. But an accident after a night out of control will turn her life upside down and force her to make decisions, although not always the best ones. Los Javis produce this provocative and generational story with an interesting formal bet and chapters that move between comedy and existential drama.

The plot is the least important thing in this sitcom that follows the coexistence of a group of vampires in the contemporary world. The important thing is that they are back: Nandor, Laszlo and Nadja, who will have to keep deciding what to do with Guillermo and his vampire hunter genes, and deal with the energetic vampire Colin. The day-to-day life of this group has become one of the smartest and funniest absurdist comedies of the moment, a must-see contemporary classic if you’re looking for a really good time.

Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac play the married couple in this modern adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s 1973 Swedish classic. Hagai Levi (experienced in delving into human relationships with The Affair) is responsible for this adaptation in five episodes in which, through the seemingly perfect marriage but full of cracks between a technology executive and a philosophy professor, delves into issues such as love, hate, desire, monogamy or marriage and divorce. The camera follows the two characters so that the viewer witnesses their intimate conversations and the erosion of their relationship.

It is an example of metafiction very well done. And of how to curl the curl over and over again with intelligence, taking advantage of the viewer’s complicity and always going a step beyond what could be foreseen. Berto Romero’s comedy (or dramedy, or whatever) about such universal things as being a father and being a son has closed its run brilliantly doing what he had already shown he knew how to do and doing it, again, very well. The pity is that what is possibly the best series of Movistar + has already ended. The best thing is that it has done so in top form and with a season to frame. (On Movistar +).

Sitcoms set in the workplace is a classic of television that from time to time gives great results. In this case, the workplace is the creative, development and commercial team of an online video game. Among its characters are an egomaniacal creative director, a technical engineer who feels undervalued, the testers of the game or the person responsible for the narrative, a writer who won the Nebula award in the seventies and who now does not understand anything about modern life. The result, a sort of mix between the irreverence of Silicon Valley and the geekiness of Community, flies high almost from the beginning until the cool special episode they released during the confinement. (On Apple TV+).
