Since January 1, the PIN 24 hours is available, a new form of tax filing that can be used by self-employed and professionals, as well as individuals to file their income tax returns.

The PIN 24 allows the telematic submission without the need of having an electronic certificate. For this reason, it cannot be used by all those taxpayers who are obliged to use advanced signature systems, such as commercial entities. The way to obtain and use the PIN 24 is detailed in the Tax Agency’s web page and we also explain it below.

To obtain the PIN, enter the AEAT website and follow the same route used for registration. Click on PIN 24 and select the option “Obtaining the PIN”. The system will then ask you to enter your National Identity Card and the expiration date of your National Identity Card. We will also have to provide a password, which is a four-character code freely chosen by the taxpayer.

The PIN 24 hours will allow the self-employed to file their computerized declarations, quarterly self-assessments of taxes and carry out other formalities with the administration telematically through the Internet without the need to have an electronic certificate.

Once you have registered with the Tax Agency and when it is time to use the service, you will have to enter the electronic headquarters of the Tax Office. You will need to enter both your ID and its expiration date to request your 24-hour PIN. You will also have to choose a password, which must be different for each time you request it.

With this system, taxpayers without an electronic certificate, those who find it difficult to use it or those who use devices (cell phones) that do not support signature with an electronic certificate will be able to file returns and self-assessments. The main recipients of the ‘PIN 24 hours’ are:

Until now if the invitation letter had not been received from the AEAT, the taxpayer who wanted to obtain the PIN 24 h, had to go to his Tax Administration to register. But since January 24 it is simpler and faster, since the invitation letter can be requested online.

What is PIN 24 Hours? PIN 24 Horas is a tool set up by the Tax Agency for the online filing of informative returns and self-assessments of taxes, which is another step forward in the taxpayer’s access to the taxpayer’s electronic signature.

Thanks to this system, taxpayers will not need to have an advanced electronic signature or electronic certificate (which is normally installed in the browser of a specific computer), which simplifies the process and allows access to online tax filing for a wide range of taxpayers.

In this way, taxpayers will be able to file their informative returns and self-assessments on the Tax Agency’s website using a code or PIN, valid for 24 hours, which will allow them to certify their identity and which is called “signature with access key in a previous registration”.

It should be remembered that, while the NIF and the 4-character code of the taxpayer’s choice will always be the same for each access to the E-Office, the 24-Hour PIN must be requested as many times as procedures are carried out, provided that these are carried out on different calendar days.
