Cincuenta sombras de Grey es una película estadounidense de drama romántico de 2015 dirigida por Sam Taylor-Johnson, con guion de Kelly Marcel. La película está basada en la novela homónima de E. L. James de 2011 y está protagonizada por Dakota Johnson en el papel de Anastasia Steele, una universitaria que comienza una relación sadomasoquista con el joven magnate de los negocios Christian Grey, interpretado por Jamie Dornan.

But hey, this is not to say that a film adaptation of the novel would be bad, necessarily. After all, the chosen director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, is not lacking in talent, and the screenwriter, Kelly Marcel, was responsible for writing “Saving Mr Banks”, a mature and funny film. Moreover, it is pleasing to have a film produced in Hollywood where most of the talent, both behind and in front of the camera, is female, from the director to a large part of the cast and crew.

The story, surprisingly, can be summed up very succinctly. Dakota Johnson plays Anastasia Steele (one of the silliest names I’ve ever seen in a movie, incidentally), a shy girl who meets Christian Grey (Jamie Dorman), a handsome millionaire executive.

There’s obviously attraction between the two, but Grey has a secret that Steele isn’t prepared for: he’s into BDSM, and wants her to be his submissive (he would be her dominant). The movie, then, is a back and forth between them, a manipulation of her by him, and a series of relatively explicit but surprisingly cold sex scenes.
