The classification of the fleet is intended to positively discriminate the most environmentally friendly vehicles and to be an effective instrument at the service of municipal policies, both traffic restrictive in episodes of high pollution, and to promote new technologies through tax benefits or those related to mobility and the environment.

There are four environmental badges created according to the environmental impact of the vehicles and these will classify and grade the 50% of the most efficient fleet. From highest to lowest efficiency they are:

0 emissions label, Blue: Identifies the most efficient vehicles. Battery electric vehicles (BEV), extended range electric vehicles (REEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) with a range of 40 km or fuel cell vehicles will be entitled to this label.

Eco label: Next on the efficiency scale, these are mostly hybrid vehicles, gas or both. They will qualify for this label: plug-in electric vehicles with a range of less than 40 km, non-plug-in hybrids (HEV), vehicles powered by natural gas and gas (CNG and LNG) or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). They must meet the criteria of the C label.

La etiqueta ECO, blanca y verde, se ha creado para distinguir ciclomotores, triciclos, cuadriciclos, motocicletas, turismos, furgonetas ligeras, vehículos de más de dos plazas y vehículos de transporte de mercaderías clasificadas como vehículos híbridos. Se incluyen diversas tipologías como los endolables con una autonomía inferior a los 40 km, los no endolables, los vehículos propulsados por gas natural o por gas licuado del petróleo.

Tanto los vehículos de transporte (ciclomotores, triciclos, cuadriciclos y motocicletas), como los que llevan este distintivo están matriculados a partir de 2007 y deben adaptarse a los niveles Euro 3 y Euro 4 de emisiones.
