One night, after winning a race, Brian is captured by U.S. Customs agents using an ESD (Electronic System Disabler) in the form of a hook, which is fired by Agent Markham (James Remar). After his arrest, FBI agent Bilkins (Thom Barry) offers him a deal to participate in a joint Customs-FBI investigation, in exchange for expunging all the records he has since his escape from Los Angeles. The operation involves street racing, but seeing that neither Customs nor the FBI has an experienced racer, Brian tells Bilkins that he will select him on his own.

Fast and Furious 2. This sequel to the surprise hit of 2001’s Fast and Furious retains its protagonist, Paul Walker, and its theme: underground car racing. But it no longer has director Rob Cohen or the charismatic Vin Diesel, who became a star after his supporting role in this film and demanded too high a budget to continue in the series.

Despite the presence of renowned director John Singleton, this second part lacks the B-cop feel of its predecessor. Some of the first part’s script’s strengths, such as the mix of cultures, the visual stylization of the races and the blurred moral boundaries on which the characters are planted, become caricatures in this sequel.

Walker plays a former FBI agent who makes a living by participating in clandestine races in Miami until he receives from a local drug kingpin the curious assignment of carrying a sum of money through the Keys route, at full speed, without being caught by the police.
