Although the film did not have high expectations, critics described it as a positive way to renew the saga that started with Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, and The Rock, who has also been involved in the production, has been enthusiastic about making this new story grow with new characters. A couple of months ago, the actor and wrestler commented that he was looking for new alternatives for a possible sequel to his movie giving more importance to the other characters.
And although at that time it was not a sure thing that Hobbs & Shaw would have more adventures ahead, producer Hiram Garcia already confirmed that the script for the second installment is already being written right now. During an interview with Comic Book, he assured that as creatives they are constantly developing new stories to bring to the screen in the near future, and the timing of this sequel is already a fact.
We are always thinking ahead and we have been developing immediately. In fact, we have a great story that we’ve been preparing. Chris Morgan has been writing, and I think that’s the beauty of it, it’s the Fast and Furious universe, right? I think it’s not so much about separating or anything, they all fall under the umbrella of the Fast and Furious universe, Fast and Furious is the mothership, but obviously that franchise is so beloved and has so many fans, and there’s so many stories to tell within it.

In “Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw” a fun detail about this movie indicated how strong Dwayne Johnson’s character, Luke Hobbs, is in hand-to-hand combat. Johnson made his franchise debut in “Furious 5” before being promoted to a key figure in “The Fast Saga.”
Initially introduced as an enemy of Dominic Toretto and his crew, Hobbs later became a key ally. Then, the actor directed the franchise’s first official spin-off in 2019 alongside veteran Jason Statham. In it, Hobbs was forced to team up with Deckard Shaw, a former nemesis.
Before Johnson embarked on a film career, he was best known for being a professional wrestler under his in-ring name, The Rock. Despite being one of the best wrestlers to ever compete, Johnson decided to leave it behind to concentrate on acting after trying out some action roles.
As part of Brixton’s mechanical implants and physically enhanced prosthetics, the character wore an exoskeleton-like suit, he also had an optical power that displayed the powers of his enemies. When Hobbs confronted Brixton in the first act of the film, Johnson’s strength was revealed in the villain’s optics.
Wrath of man
In 2019, a spin-off film of the Fast and Furious franchise will be released in which the main characters will be the American security agent Luke Hobbs and his former enemy Deckard Shaw. This story will lead the two to join forces and with the help of MI-6 agent and Shaw’s sister, Hattie, they will try to defeat a new villain: Brixton, who seems to be invincible and lethal. Of course, friction and problems between the two protagonists will not be long in coming, especially because Hattie seems very interested in Hobbs and that does not please Deckard at all. Hobs & Shaw aims to revitalize the franchise’s characters and bring more realism to the saga.
The fast and the furious
After eight films that have amassed nearly $5 billion worldwide, the Fast and the Furious franchise now presents its first standalone film with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham returning as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw in Fast and the Furious: Hobbs & Shaw.
Hobbs and Shaw’s explosions will open a new door in the Fast and Furious universe, and with them will come fast-paced action across the globe; from Los Angeles to London and from the toxicity of Chernobyl to the wondrous beauty of Samoa.
Hobbs takes the trio to his childhood home in Samoa to visit his brother Jonah, a talented mechanic, to repair the device and keep a low profile before taking on Brixton again. Hobbs has a tense reunion with his family, but his mother finally convinces Jonah to help them. The makeshift battalion prepares for Eteon’s arrival by setting a variety of traps around the island. Jonah successfully repairs the device and begins extracting the virus, just as Brixton and his army arrive. In the ensuing battle, all of Brixton’s soldiers are defeated. Brixton retakes Hattie by helicopter; however, Hobbs, Deckard and the Samoans shoot down the plane. Working together, Hobbs and Deckard defeat Brixton, who is remotely fired by Eteon’s unseen Director. The Warden sends a message claiming to know Hobbs and intending to persuade him and the Shaw Brothers, while they promise to find The Warden. The group celebrates their victory.
