En España, la inspección técnica periódica, es la ITV. (Inspección Técnica de Vehículos). Al igual que la ITV del Reino Unido, es obligatoria para todos los vehículos que circulan por carretera, y conducir sin una ITV válida puede dar lugar a multas.
La frecuencia de la ITV depende de la edad y el tipo de vehículo. Los coches nuevos se examinan por primera vez a los 4 años y, a partir de entonces, deben pasar la inspección cada 2 años, hasta que cumplan 10 años. Cualquier coche de más de 10 años debe pasar la prueba anualmente.
Actualmente, los centros de ITV están dando prioridad a las ITV de los vehículos con la ITV caducada y a los que están más cerca de caducar, por lo que si a su ITV le queda algún tiempo dentro de la fecha de renovación ampliada es posible que no consiga una cita.
Lo mejor es que reserves tu cita para la ITV (cita previa). Puede hacerlo por Internet o por teléfono. En estos momentos los centros de ITV siguen estando muy ocupados debido al retraso del cierre, por lo que podría estar dando vueltas todo el día si acude a una cita previa.
Con una ITV reservada, debe llegar al centro al menos 10 minutos antes de su cita y dirigirse a la máquina expendedora de billetes y tocar la opción de “cita previa”. Introduce la matrícula de tu vehículo y coge el ticket. Estarás atento a la pantalla para ver tu número de ticket, y cuando aparezca, te dirigirás al mostrador indicado y entregarás la documentación de tu vehículo, (permiso de circulación y ficha técnica). Pagas la tasa de examen y te dan un recibo. Te guardarán la ficha técnica, ya que si apruebas, tendrán que sellarla al final de la prueba. (En algunos lugares te dan un portapapeles para que se lo entregues al inspector).
